SPIRITUAL ANECDOTE

. . . One of the highlights of the trip with Baba was in San Francisco on Sunday morning, August 5th, when he gave us a glimpse of the Christ. It apparently started with the Indian boys ordering a too luxurious breakfast. Baba came in and saw it, and reproved them for spending too freely the money that his followers had contributed with so much sacrifice, and said they should remember many people in the world get only one meal a day and some never get enough to eat at all.

Then there was a Board Meeting of the Hospitality Committee over which Baba presided. Some mistakes and misunderstandings on the part of various members of the Committee were brought to light and straightened out, and the accounts disposed of. In the course of the straightening out there were some hurt feelings and recriminations, which Baba put a stop to. Then He called for the Prayer of Repentance, which He had given us many months ago; I don't know just when. It has been published in His magazine and separately, so everybody knew of it. I had seen it, thought it beautiful, and forgotten all about it.

In India, many don't even have that. If you want to stick to Me, you must have a clean heart. There is no use in sometimes having faith and sometimes having doubt. It is best to leave Me then, and you can lead your life in the world and be free. If you want to love Me, you should not try to create confusion among yourselves. All of you love Me. But, by loving each other, you will be loving Me the best. The best is to love each other. If one has to say something behind the back of the other, assert their ego, how can they tell the world about My love, or set an example to others? If you cannot all love Me as I want you all to
