"Don Stevens read three messages of Baba's. During the first one, Baba caught the eye of a youngster across the room, and almost chuckled so that those near him wanted to laugh aloud, as Baba gestured jokingly as if in resignation to being forced to listen to more of His own words.

"Dante's wife kept watching the clock, for Babe was to stay only forty-five minutes, but Baba pointed to a non-existent watch on his wrist, and shook his head "no," telling her not to be concerned.

"Baba said, 'I am the Infinite Ocean: those who drown themselves in this Ocean will get the Pearl.'

"One by one each person came to Baba for the wonderful moment to receive his blessing individually and to offer him the flower that he had brought as a token of love. As Baba took each flower, he either put it beside him, or down on the tray at his feet, or held it for a moment. Once he almost violently threw down the flower. Undoubtedly the giver lacked a great deal of the proper attitude of giving—one lovely red rose, Baba held tenderly a long time. From another he tore a petal which he saved to give to a young man with instructions to eat it as prasad.

"Baba received each one differently, measuring exactly what the person needed, and this each received. Just the week before, Dante had given to a member of his group the project of humility, instructing her to bow down each day before a picture of the Master of her choice. Baba embraced her in turn, but then as she was leaving Baba pulled her back, took her by the arms and brought her down to her knees in front of him. A most symbolic act of humility. The more love one offers, the more receptive one is to Love. Those who understand and appreciate only a little, receive less than those who truly tried to give love and thereby received more love, because they were more receptive. Later, it was reported that Baba was happy and Baba said that over half of this group love Baba.

"When each and all had been blessed, Baba went through the apartment. The car which was supposed to pick Baba up and take him back to the hotel was late, and there were many offers of rides, but Baba wished to walk the few blocks. Had he done so, no doubt his entourage would have startled even the blasé strollers on Hollywood Boulevard! However, the car arrived, and Baba waved goodbye."
