Such an attitude leads the community to a defiance of him. But because of the inherent righteousness in every man and a thirst for gratifying his longing for something higher, a Zoroastrian runs after saints and sadhus, fakirs and walis, temples and tombs. He hardly realizes the spiritual waste of such gropings. Turning away from the Real, he hankers for the imitation that appears so alluring. Giving up the real diamond, he yields to the attraction of the valueless glittering of stones to which he offers his prayerful worship.

Baba has taken birth in the Zoroastrian community. He is the Avatar of the age. Because of the law upholding itself, the community has been despising him with bitterness and aggression known best to itself.

In this very community, there are some who love him, trust him and bear allegiance to him to a degree that supersedes the allegiance of those from other communities who also love him and obey him. Those few Zoroastrians who have the blessed fortune of knowing, loving and obeying Meher Baba, should feel themselves duty-bound to go about, doing their utmost to enlighten the hearts and minds of those belonging to their community. There cannot be a greater service rendered to your community other than bringing home to its people the fact that the Ancient Light has descended to earth to dispel the darkness of ignorance.

Holding this object firm in view and finding out the ways and means to fulfill the task, we should decide to celebrate in Bombay the coming Birthday of Baba on 25th February (1959). It should, as it were, be the last vigorous attempt to turn back the community to its own home from which it has strayed.

Thoughts on Shri Meher Baba

By P. K. SARKAR

The year 1958 has been perhaps the most eventful year in the eventful mundane life of Shri Meher Baba and what Baba has achieved and revealed in this year is of supreme significance in the religious history of mankind. He held two Sahavas programs in the year—in India in February and in America and Australia in May and June. What he revealed about himself in the Sahavas programs in America on May 24th is to my mind the most beautiful and momentous thing that has happened in the history of religion.
