When Beloved Avatar Meher Baba has blessed humanity through His Advent to love Him directly, why should anyone want to channelise one's love for the God-Man through any Perfect Master, while the Avataric Atmosphere still prevails and while we can be in the orbit of the Love of the Ancient One!
My dear C______,
I have heard from Baba lovers that they care a great deal about you. I understand that you are on a unique diet which is causing you to lose a considerable amount of weight. I don't know the reasons for your diet, whether they are from a spiritual point of view or for your own health. But I wanted to tell you that Baba wants His lovers to be more practical. From what I have heard from others, you are most sincere and have surrendered your life to Baba.
Once someone has come to Baba, then his life is no longer his own. Your body as well as your mind and heart belong to the Beloved. Therefore, it is your duty to take care of your body, not just for yourself, but for Baba, because you are now the custodian of your body for Baba. Especially since you want to do His work, that is an extra obligation you have taken upon yourself, for which you are doubly responsible to take care of your health.
The only diet or fast that matters on the spiritual path is that of the mind. Control your thoughts. The mind is the source of our separation from God.
Very often on the spiritual path an aspirant gets a false impression that to reach God, food is very important.
What Baba wants is love and remembrance of Him, and obedience to His orders. Nothing else is necessary. Concerning food, if you have a health problem, you could follow doctors' advice.
If you have any questions concerning this, feel free to write to me.
The following cable was received by EliKit at Myrtle Beach, S. C., from Baba's sister, Mani, from Ahmednagar, India, dated December 10, 1958:
"CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS FROM INDIA TO ALL CONCERNED IN U.S.A., AS FOLLOWS, UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES HOLD FAST TO MY UNDYING LOVE AND YOU WILL LIVE IN ME FOREVER.
