Mangalanand gathered 'round a group of people who enjoyed his discourses. I opened the eyes of the Sahavasis who listened to his discourses. I wanted this Swami to observe silence and to fast for 40 days and live only on water. This Swami has gone to his 'kutir' and I decided that that was the only way to correct the Swami.
"Last week, there was another saint or Swami called 'Balak Bhagwan' of Chatravargiam, near Raipur. In Raipur, people revere him as 'the Avatar of the Age'; articles appear in newspapers and magazines about him and many public leaders and high-placed government officials also revere him, and they worship him. He loves Me very much and came here in last week's Sahavas. When he is outside, he is called 'Balak Bhagwan' and when he comes here, he calls himself 'Balak Meher.' I told the Sahavasis about him and opened their eyes and opened the eyes of Balak Meher also. I corrected him by explaining openly to the Sahavasis the harm that is being done if one permits another to bow down to him, without the real authority, and I asked him not to meddle with the 'fate' of the Sahavasis. I said, 'Don't allow others to prostrate to you.'
"I want to tell you what Balak Bhagwan did in spite of this. Time and again, I told him that he should not permit others to bow down to him, without having the authority. He used to solemnly promise, but yet, he fell a victim to his long-standing weaknesses. I sent him two instructions: namely, (a) Do not permit others to bow down to you. Even if they insist, try your best to avoid it; (b) If at all anyone does bow down to you in spite of your efforts to avoid the same, do not feel elated and do not feed the 'ego' (egoism).
"Balak Bhagwan (or Balak Meher, as he called himself in My presence), agreed to obey the two instructions. A short while after, he wanted My permission to go out of the Meeting-pandal just to wash his hands and to come back, and I permitted him. Balak Bhagwan approached Mungalananda Swami as he was leaving the camp and told him. 'Heed Baba's instructions and observe them. Whatever Baba has to give, He will give.' Balak also added, 'I too will give you something.' After Balak returned, I asked him what happened and about his conversation with Swami Mungalananda. Balak confessed. This was his weakness, in spite of My having specifically instructed him; and he could not but feed his egoism."
"I will continue one of these days the theme of 'Split-I' or 'Split-Ego' and about 'Opium Addict.'”
